Hello Sultan of Swing, Before embarking into the GIS adventure, I believe that you should take into consideration the parameters you would like to analyze and update. You should talk to the people who manage the paddy field and ask them what are their problems, then try to figure out how to get the job done properly using GIS. GPS and RS might be good to use if you are covering a very large area of paddy fields. I hope this would help. Regards. Mr. GIS
