Training Description

If you are looking for QGIS training or GIS training in Malaysia, this three-day course provides a conceptual overviewand hands-on experience using QGIS software. It teaches basic QGIS functionality and enables participants to quicklytake advantage of the software’s powerful display and analysis capabilities. Attendees are introduced to the QGIS GUIand use QGIS to create, edit, display, query, and analyze geographic and tabular data and create presentation-qualitymaps and charts.

Overview:

Capabilities and applications; Interacting with the QGIS GUI; Projects and documents; Using QGIS online help.

QGIS views and layers:

Creating views to display geo-graphic data (layers); Creating layers from x,y coordinates; Setting a view’s mapprojection; Manipulating the symbology and classification scheme for each layer; Labeling layers.

QGIS tables:

Creating an QGIS table from a variety of tabular data sources; Selecting from a table; Joining and linking multiple tables

Modifying the structure of a table; Editing values in a table; Creating a chart for presenting tabular data.

Creating and editing layers:

Using QGIS to create ShapeFiles; Adding and editing ShapeFile features; Updating attribute information;

Spatial query and analysis:

Selecting features based on relation-ships between multiple layers; Merging layer features.
