A hearty thanks to the following who responded: Jimaima Le Grand, Milan Scholz, Pieter Geert van den Beukel, Colleen Martin, and Michael Jenkins. The answer lies with an Import Dialog extension written by Bill Huber. It is found at: http://gis.esri.com/arcscripts/details.cfm?CFGRIDKEY=DAE18E0A-3AFE-11D4-942F00508B0CB419 The information with this extension is humorously daunting: "it is for the desperate, curious, or brave." It is upfront about the potential for segmentation violations when reloading saved imported dialogs. (I got a SV when I tried to reopen my saved project using the same Arcview session, but once I exited OUT of Arcview and restarted it, and read in my project again, no SV's....where's some wood to knock on....) But, the script did what it's supposed to do and I'm impressed. I got a little stumped about how to have your project find and use these "new dialogs" that were imported (and presumably edited), but I think "re-detaching" the project to another project is the answer. Anyway, another satisfied customer. Viva la list! Michele Porter ORIGINAL QUESTION: Hello, all! We are trying to add some buttons to a dialog in a project that I believe has been "detached." I think this is the case because when the dialog designer extension is loaded, the dialogs are not visible in the Project Box. I just can't find them anywhere (I think it's the ".ded"s that I'm missing?). This project was created by someone who doesn't work here anymore, and we don't know exactly how it was created in the first place. Does anyone know of some tricks to be able to edit these dialogs without having to recreate them? Michele
